The K-girl and her classmates are having an egg hunt at school today.  But, it is not ordinary hunt as you search for eggs marked with your name, not just any egg.  

Fair is fair.

Anyhow, the K-girl worked hard on prepping these cute little Easter goodness for her friends at school.  She used a sheet of Karen Foster Design paper with bunnies, sheep and lilies to make name labels, carefully writing each name so that it was between either a bunny/sheep and the lily.   She cut them out and, with some help from momma, the labels were taped to the center of the egg.   

I love my creative sidekick.

KFD sneak peeks : curling and hockey

Ah, we've made it to the final day of Karen Foster Design sneak peeks.   The design team has shared two weeks worth of scrapbooking themes releasing at CHA.  Fifteen new collections to appeal to a wide variety of interests in life.

Today we are featuring the last two collections of this release --- curling and hockey.

I will be the first to admit -- I am not the sports-lovin' gal and surely not contact and violent sports. But, that does not mean that I can't love a good collection of sports products.  

First up is a layout I designed using the curling theme. I couldn't decide on just one sticker that I wanted to use, so I used the entire sheet.  Yep, I used it right next to an enlarged photo.  I added some awesome black brads, stars and some ink.  

What do you give a hockey fan for their birthday, special occasion or just to go with them to a game?   A hockey fan kit, of course.    I used a small lunch box tin, decorated with sports stamps, ink and large red letters cut from patterned paper.  

Inside, I stuffed it with a banner, a CD of game tunes, bandaids, a mirror, a thermal heat pack, a banner and some snacks.  The clear keepsake pocket is perfect for storing souvenirs and tickets from the game. 

Did you see the cute tube that KFD coil brads are packaged in? I added some candies into the tube and packed them in the tin. Upcycled fun!

KFD sneak peek : brother, sister and twins

We are family, get up everybody siiiiiiiiiiiiiiing! 

Welcome to the family edition of the Karen Foster Design sneak peek week two. 

First up is the brother collection.   It is filled with blue, burgundy and green -- a lovely color combo for so many projects.  I decorated a wooden frame and a wooden star.   I have a friend in mind to gift this to and she has three boys.  Cowboys.   So, I added a bit of western flair with chalked edges and twisted scrapper's floss to mimic a  lasso. 

The next collection --- I got all my sisters with me!   Yep, I have three sisters and love them to pieces.  This collection uses the same circle pattern as the brother, but in lovely shades of pink, blue and purple.   I love all the cute daisy flowers in this collection. 

And the next collection will have you seeing double.  Twins!   I just so happen to be a twin / have a twin sister.   Growing up, I'd tease her that she was a tag-a-long 'cause I was born first, but I'm glad she's along for this ride of sisterhood. 

This collection features a lot of purple, but has blue and orange to counterbalance it for the twin boys, too.   For this layout, I focused on the tag with the two orange people icons.  They are unisex, so I added bows for two girls.  Then I used bits and pieces to make flowers and banners.   The TWINS stickers were covered lightly with acrylic paint.

KFD sneak peek : military

 Salute to the red, white and blue ---- and to Karen Foster Design, too!

Today is week two, day two of KFD sneak peeks for product they are showcasing at CHA-Winter.   Their trade show booth is sure to be filled with lots of awesome projects, so if you're attending, be sure to make your way there.

The design team is highlighting the military theme today.   This collection is sure to be a huge hit within our military families and communities.  It is filled with an array of red, white and blue, but also has a neat camouflage, cool stencil fonts and beautiful insignia to honor our loved ones.   I really enjoy the word collage patterned paper that is dedicated to the military family ---- those left behind to support their soldier and their troops.

My father served 20+ years in the military, but retired when I was only kindergarten age.  I did not have the full military family experience as my older brothers and sisters.  But, I have kept my ties to the military through my work as a government contractor for aviation maintenance.

To the families that support our troops -- thank you.

To my good friend, Michele, thank you!   Thank you for serving our country, thank you for your continuing service and thank you for being an awesome friend. This layout depicts her in her young military years, just heading out on the mission.   She was, and is, proud to serve our country.  She is truly a hero.  Love ya to pieces, girl! 

And, to those that have served this war deployment, I salute you.

KFD sneak peek : easter

Well, today I present to you the new Easter theme from Karen Foster Design. This post will wrap up week one of CHA Winter 2012 sneak peeks, but be sure to check back next week when seven more themes are revealed. 

Seven.  Wow. 

The Easter theme is filled with lots of punchy pastels, a painterly texture and lots of fun Easter treats.

Everyone loves a little goodies on Easter morning.   I created a simple cone, weaved from a mix of patterned papers, to hold an egg and some candy.   I used patterned paper to create the ruffle trim, then tied it with pink scrapper spool / floss.  The cardstock grass is perfect setting for an egg and bunny, both made from cardstock stickers, and a thin-ment flower with coil brad center.

KFD sneak peak : best friends and scrapbooking

Hello, and welcome to another day of Karen Foster Design sneak peeks.   Today the design team is featuring the new best friends and scrapbooking themes.   They go hand in hand, right?  I love scrapbooking with my best friends [also known as my sisters + friend Mich].  

I did not create projects with the best friends line, but here is peek of it:

Before I show you my project using the scrapbooking line, here is snapshot of the entire theme.  It is full of brown, teal and pink and lots of fun crafty icons.

I created some wall art using this theme.  I simply cut a huge pair of scissors from cardboard, then covered with this craftilicious paper full of flowers and buttons and stitches.  I hinged it altogether with a rhinestone brad.

And a detail shot of the decoration --- a flower charm, rhinestone brad and a tag sticker.  I am sure this will look cute hanging on the wall above my craft table.  It sure makes me happy scrappy!

KFD sneak peek : basketball and swimming

Hi and welcome back for more sneak peeks at products that Karen Foster Design will debut at the CHA 2012 Winter show. To celebrate this release the Design Team will be hosting a giveaway contest on our blogs where you can enter to win prize packs that match each day’s theme(s).

Today's featured themes are basketball and swimming.

The basketball theme includes four patterned papers, cardstock sticker and stacked stickers.  Surely the crowd-pleasing colors of brown, orange and blue will put you in the mood for some hoops.  I love the close-up detail of the basketball and the collage paper.  So very cool.

Move over basketball hoops, we're ready for some swimming laps.  The aquatic tones used in this theme will leave you wanting to swim [even if in the middle of winter].  Navy, teal and orange ---- and metal buttons.  Oh my, swimmingly awesome!

I made two cards using this set and could make a million more [even if I know no one that swims competitively].   The first one features a Ready. Set. Swim! sticker and one of the button badges.  I simply used two of the same sticker to add WIN over swim.  The swimmer along the bottom of the card was cut from the collage paper.

This second cards also has a button badge ---- LOVE them!   In this card I wanted to pick up more of the orange of the diver.   The D, V and E were cut from stickers and added around the diver.   I also added some bubbles of crystal effects to mimic water drops.

Today we are featuring two special occasions -- wedding and prom.

I did not design any projects using the wedding line, but it full of goodies for the blushin' bride and her groom.   The color palette includes classic black, white and grey with a touch of peach and pink.  It is the perfect product to showcase your special day.

The prom line features lots of black and white with pops of purple, turquoise and yellow.  Don't limit yourself on using it just for prom though.

I used the line to feature the white stretch limo from our wedding.   The limo paper was PERFECT! I even used THE LIMO from the collage paper along with a scrap stick to make a banner.  And, the starburst rhinestone brads were perfect to showcase our July 4th wedding.

Now that we have the nitty gritty out of the way, here is my spin on the shopping diva theme.  This theme is obviously geared towards those who like to shop til they drop, but it is filled with gorgeous shades of green and pink with a splash of black [and a hint of brown, too].   Bags, dresses, purses, flowers -- oh my!

For my first layout, I used a photo of my daughter.  We lovingly call her the "bag lady" because she loves to carry a cute bag and plenty of them, filled with toys and clothes and blanket and stuff.  To keep the focus on the photo, mat and flowers, I used tone on tone for the journaling.

And, a card picking up the brown in this theme.  I love the brown paired with pink and the green "ribbon."

A shopping trip cannot be complete without a cute bag.  Bag is made with word collage paper and trimmed with black scalloped cardstock.  I used the same patterned paper, folded a few times, to make the key fob, complete with a sassy flower charm.  

Girls, step aside because I must introduce you to the cutest robots eeeeeeevah!

This palette of cream, teal, grey and orange will make you giddy.  The little mechanical guys are just the cutest things!

This theme is perfect for party decorations and favors.  This set of cupcake flags were quickly made by adding a sticker to a toothpick and backing with patterned paper.  To add some pop, a starburst brad was added to each pick.

When the party is over, make this set of small thank you cards [3"x3"].  I simply used the collage patterned paper, some punches and a cardstock robot sticker.  I added a silver brad to each.

And, a card for the birthday kiddo [or for anyone or any occasion, really].
