march on

The first half of March has been a whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiirlwind!

I am not even sure what all happened in the first week.  It seems so distant in my mind.  Last week, though, is still embedded in my memory bank because it was filled with lots of excitement --- spring break, a road trip, two birthdays, scrapbooking, yardwork and lots of relaxing with the family.  Vacation!

We spent lots of time strapped to our seats, viewing the Texas countryside [and the rain and snow!] from our windows as we headed from central to west Texas.  [the K-girl is hidden behind my big ole head -- oops]

We saw the tallest bluebonnets we've ever seen and it warranted our yearly photos of the kids.   It may not be an entire field and only a few on the side of the road, but it was a very memorable way to start our trek into Big Bend.

Family photo in front of the Big Bend National Park sign.  LOVE having our photos taken at the entrance markers to the wondramous places we visit.

One of my favorite photos of the trip -- a simple moment between father and son caught on film.  This one was taken atop a huge rock in our campsite.  That rock was a place for the son to exercise and meditate and for the K-kiddos to dance and be silly.

The K-girl loved dancing on that rock [and the bear-proof container] at our camp.

The view from the Window Trail.   Views of God's beauty and landscape were absolutely breathtaking.

The sunset on Tuesday evening will be the one I remember most from the trip.  The warm hues mixed with the cool greys as the day came to end, just in time to start our night at the McDonald Observatory.  We attended the star party and it was so very cool.

Our last family photo, taken by a total stranger who joked about our Canon camera [thank you, stranger!], before we headed east to return home.  This was taken from the scenic overlook above Fort Davis Mountains.  Beautiful.

And, once home, a celebratory sweetness of the K-boy's choosing was baked.  We placed two number candles on top to commemorate his first double-digit birthday.   Then, another 11 candles were lit -- one for each year of his sweet life and an extra candle for good luck.

Lots of sweet memories made during our week together.   Slowly, but surely, my days are getting back on track and life is marching on, though not at any slower pace.

But, I promise myself to focus.  Taking deep, deep breaths so I can take it all in.
